Site-specific Event:Funeral Parlour in Suzhou

《Elegy》 is an instant event with symbolic significance. The artist picks up a discarded flower and “mourns” it in a funeral home after a funeral. Flowers as life and not as props, in the moment it was plucked, life is sentenced to end, it is entitled to a send-off ceremony. A person’s funeral will be attended by his or her cronies, and a flower funeral will be attended by other flowers.

《挽歌》是一件具有象征意义的即时事件。艺术家在一场葬礼后的殡仪馆内,捡起一枚弃花,为它“办丧”。花作为生命而不作为道具,在其被摘下的那个瞬间,生命即被宣判告终,它有资格拥有一场送别仪式。一个人的葬礼将有其亲信的参与,同样,一枝花的葬礼中也将会有其他的花的观摩。

In a sink full of water but not overflowing, it is extremely dangerous to keep the water running or to pull the plug. But the danger can let unpredictability be stronger. The artist shifted attention to the lower pipe for guiding the viewer to imagine the mysterious ends of the sink. In the end, even the video, which only can record the truth, was destroyed. Left only three images and three lines of text.

一个灌满水的盥洗槽,在不至于溢出的微妙状态里,无论是继续放水还是拔开塞子,都是极其危险的,而危险的又加剧了动作的无法预知。艺术家将主语转移到了下水管道上,引导观众来想象神秘的水槽两端。更诱人的是,干脆连能记录真相的视频都摧毁,只剩下三张图片和三行文字。
